Functional pork meat products were generated containing a wide variety of nutraceutical compounds. These functional meat products were added to the diets of rats with chemically induced colorectal cancer. The nutraceutical compounds tested include carotenoids, omega-3 fatty acids, flavonoids, terpenoids, organosulfur compounds, a heat inactivated probiotic, vitamin C, and vitamin E. The cecal microbiotas for each group were characterized by 16S rRNA sequencing.
