Current Questions on Climate Protection (October 2024)

The short survey on climate protection was conducted by Verian on behalf of the Press and Information Office of the Federal Government. In the survey period 09.10.2024 to 15.10.2024, the German-speaking population aged 14 and over in private households was asked about climate policy in telephone interviews (CATI). This edition focuses on questions about the climate protection target, the restructuring of the economy in Germany with regard to climate protection and green technologies, EU financial aid for countries affected by flooding and the perception of severe weather and flooding as a result of climate change. Respondents were selected using a multi-stage random sample as part of a multi-topic survey including landline and mobile phone numbers (dual-frame sample).<br>Concerns about possible consequences of climate change; assessment of current political measures for climate protection (appropriate, go too far or do not go far enough); agreement with statements on climate protection (the state should ban climate-damaging behavior, I am worried that I will have to limit myself in my everyday life for climate protection in the future, the current political measures for climate protection are an incentive for me to behave in a more climate-friendly way in my everyday life); extent to which climate protection is addressed in the current political debate (there is too much/too little talk about climate protection or is it just right); attitude towards Germany´s climate protection target of reducing climate-damaging greenhouse gases by 65% by 2030 compared to 1990; probability of Germany achieving its climate protection target by 2030; opinion on mitigating the consequences of climate change through increased climate protection measures; opinion on the restructuring of the economy in Germany with regard to climate protection and green technologies (the economy in Germany should be fundamentally restructured in order to become a global pioneer in climate protection and green technologies vs. the German economy should rely more on proven industries that have already been successful in the past); opinion on financial aid from the European Union for countries affected by flooding; perception of severe weather and flooding in recent weeks as a result of climate change.

Demography: sex; age; education; occupation; household size; number of people in the household aged 14 and over; party preference; voting eligibility; net household income; survey via mobile or landline; internet use.
