File List Focal_Species.csv (MD5: 3daf01dc626167dee4ebae7df5e97921) Description This file contains the results of aggressive interactions among the 65 species pairs used to distinguish dominant and subordinate species in our study, as well as relevant mass data, phylogenetic data, and references. Columns are as follows: Comparison: Independent comparison number, sequentially numbered, following the taxonomic order of Gill and Donsker (2010). Order: Taxonomic order of focal species, following Gill and Donsker (2010). Family: Taxonomic family of focal species, following Gill and Donsker (2010). Genus: Taxonomic genus of focal species, following Gill and Donsker (2010). Dominant Sp: Species that won the majority of aggressive contests with its paired congener. Subordinate Sp: Species that lost the majority of aggressive contests with its paired congener. Win.dom: Number of aggressive contests between paired congeners won by the dominant species. Win.sub: Number of aggressive contests between paired congeners won by the subordinate species. Sum.win: Total number of aggressive contests between the paired congeners. Binom.test: P value from a binomial test on the number of aggressive contests won by the dominant congener relative to the total number of aggressive contests between paired congeners. Dominant Mass: Mean mass of the dominant species. Subordinate Mass: Mean mass of the subordinate species. N.mass.dom: Number of individuals used to calculate mean mass for the dominant species. N.mass.sub: Number of individuals used to calculate mean mass for the subordinate species. Interaction Data Reference: Source of data on the outcomes of aggressive contests between paired congeners. Phylogenetic relationship reference: Source of data on the phylogenetic relationships among congeners.
