In 2020, the Minnesota Department of Agriculture joined with the University of Minnesota in launching the Statewide Cooperative Partnership for Local and Regional Markets (SCP or the Partnership) with funding from the USDA Federal State Marketing Improvement Program (FSMIP). The Partnership is a group of more than forty organizations that meet quarterly to provide input on the diverse experiences of small- and mid-sized producers, retailers, and consumers across the state. A list of partners can be found on the SCP website. To support data-informed development of local and regional markets in Minnesota, the Partnership designed and launched three surveys in 2022 to collect baseline data from producers, supply chain partners, and consumers.
