Uranium and thorium abundances in rocks for the GUESS crustal model at Borexino
收藏资源简介:
This dataset contains the original geochemical data underlying the GUESS geochemical model of the crust surrounding the Borexino detector (Gran Sasso National Laboratory, Italy), developed to predict the local geoneutrino signal and the radiogenic heat power of the lithosphere. The dataset consists of 1,583 geolocated rock and sediment samples with uranium and thorium abundances determined by gamma-ray spectrometry. It combines 1,564 samples from the ITALRAD database, collected in Central Italy (sedimentary and volcanic units), in Sardinia and in the Southern Alps (crystalline basement), with 19 samples from a dedicated GUESS sampling campaign in the Ivrea-Verbano area. Each record reports the sample ID, geographic coordinates (decimal degrees), tectonic unit, geological formation, lithology, the corresponding unit of the GUESS model (1 to 6), and the U and Th abundances with their uncertainties, expressed in μg/g. These data support the manuscript "Refining the Local Geoneutrino Signal at Borexino: A New Look at the Mantle Radiogenic Power" by Strati et al., submitted to Geochemistry, Geophysics, Geosystems.
