Soil metagenome from Drought-Net experiment plots in Western Australia

Long-term plots were established in Western Australia, as part of a global impact study, to determine the long-term impacts of drought on ecological dynamics of vegetation and soil processes. Here, 20 plots were established in 2016 and rain shelters to reduce ambient rainfall were constructed. Basic soil chemistry and vegetation has been measured in the spring and autumn since the experimental start. 5 soil cores were sampled and pooled from each plot. DNA was extracted from soil and Illumina Nextera XT libraries were prepared for shotgun sequencing. All 20 samples were sequenced on a single Novaseq S4 lane.
