The key objectives of this project are: 1) To contribute to the West Kimberley’s national heritage values by actively protecting the biological richness of Roebuck Bay as a significant site for migratory wading birds and other rare and endangered aquatic species; 2) To support the local rich and dynamic Aboriginal communities, cultures and customs and contribute to the heritage value of the Broome region as the gateway to the Kimberley; 3) To build long lasting community capacity and buy-in regarding the environmental and heritage values of the region (and in particular, Roebuck Bay), through collaboration with project partners to engage with the broader community about local conservation and land management issues; 4) To provide skills, training and work experience to young people in conservation and land management.
