Use of Rituximab for Sjogren's Syndrome (ASJ01)

Twelve adults will be enrolled in this study to evaluate the safety of using rituximab (Rituxan), a monoclonal antibody, for the treatment of Sjogren's syndrome. Participants will receive 2 intravenous doses of rituximab over a 2-week period and be monitored periodically for 1 year to evaluate for possible side effects and changes in the signs and symptoms and laboratory manifestations of disease. Studies are also planned to evaluate the mechanisms of the treatment effects, including changes in the properties of immune cells and the characteristics of the salivary gland tissue.
