European civil rights and attitude to the EU. Health precautions among
women. Topics: interest in politics; personal opinion leadership;
judgement on the membership of the country in the EU; advantageousness
of this membership; knowledge test of the civil rights made possible by
the European Union such as freedom of movement beyond country borders
in the search for work, in mobility, in elections, in the economic area
or in training; knowledge about equalization of emergency telephone
numbers in the EU; recently received information about rights and
opportunities of an EU citizen and self-classification of extent to
which informed; interest in further information and preferred sources
of information; perception of the European Parliament in current media;
importance of the European Parliament for Europe; more prestige for the
European Parliament; trust in the European Commission, the national
government, the European Parliament, the national parliament and the
council of ministers; representation of citizen interests by the
European Parliament; political areas which the European Parliament
should devote more attention to; conduct given a hypothetical
referendum on remaining or leaving the EU; necessity of progress in the
areas of Common Market, agricultural policy, social policy,
environmental policy, foreign policy, military policy, European
currency, taxes, election of a European Government and European
citizenship; classification of selected European political disputes
according to their importance; most important concerns in connection
with unification of Europe and classification of the probability of
occurrence of these concerns. The following questions were also posed
to women: thoughts of personal breast cancer; participation in medical
check-ups in the last year and intended participation in the coming
year; trust in medical check-ups; attitude to cancer check-ups and
expected chances of healing or treating cancer (scale); regular
participation in medical check-ups as guarantee of reduction in breast
cancer; participation in medical check-ups on personal initiative or
advice of doctor; most effective method of cancer check-up; interest in
information on the topic of cancer; preferred source of information on
cancer questions; cancer patients in one´s circle of friends.
Demography: nationality; self-classification on a left-right continuum;
marital status; age at conclusion of school education; sex; age;
composition of household; professional position; head of household;
occupation of head of household; religious affiliation; household
income; possession of a telephone. Also encoded was: date of interview;
time of start of interview; length of interview; number of persons
present during interview; willingness of respondent to cooperate; city
size.
