The dataset contains fundamental information on multicomponent silicate–phosphate glasses belonging to the 41SiO2-6(10)P2O5-20K2O–33(29)MgO/CaO/MgO+CaO compositional system, doped with increasing amounts of sulfate ions. It includes structural, chemical, and thermal characterization data of the synthesized materials obtained using X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray fluorescence spectroscopy (XRF), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), and magic-angle spinning nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MAS NMR). In addition, the dataset contains results of dissolution experiments describing the chemical activity and ion-release behavior of the glasses under conditions simulating action of the root exudates. The dataset provides supporting information for the study of sulfur-bearing silicate–phosphate glasses designed as potential slow-release fertilizer materials.
