<p>3D scan of a figure holding a thermometer and a mirror, that is part of the architecture in Hall 6 of NHM Vienna, representing the chemical element Mercury (Hg). Mercury has been used for mirrors since the 16th century and for thermometers since the 18th century. Its use in thermometers ended in the late 20th century, while mirror applications were replaced by silvering glass by the late 19th century. All figures in Hall 6 of the NHM Vienna were created by Edmund Hofmann.</p>
