Damaged shoreline classification and lengths along Hatteras Island and Bogue Banks, North Carolina from 2019-10-01 to 2019-11-30. (NCEI Accession 0221645)

Visually apparent damage to bulkheads, riprap revetments, and marshes with sills were recorded within one month of landfall of Hurricane Dorian in North Carolina in October and November 2019. Approximately 16 km of backbarrier shoreline on the Outer Banks were surveyed within the towns of Frisco and Hatteras Village on the southern end of Hatteras Island, NC and on Bogue Banks, NC. The dataset includes the type of shoreline, the length of shoreline, and the damage category (see Gittman et al. 2014 and Smith et al. 2017).
