Vanini maschera di Leopardi: una lettura inedita

Claudio Vannini o l'artista "canto" published in Naples in 1836 is the work of Saverio Baldacchini, a minor of the southern nineteenth century with Apulian roots, active in the Bourbon capital. Opponent of Leopardi's thought, he refused the songs and in his verses polemically alluded to the poet of Recanati, enough to provoke the reaction that can be read in I nuovi credenti. The essay brings to the attention of Vanini's scholars a little-known episode of Leopardi's life and shows that in the name of the protagonist, a non-existent Sienese painter of the sixteenth century, that of the most well-known philosopher of Taurisano, hidden as a symbol of negative thought, is hidden desecrating, well known to Baldacchini and the circle of his friends.
