资源简介:
The Mount Washington Observatory, located at the summit of New Hampshire's Mount Washington, was first occcupied by the U.S. Signal
Signal Service from 1870-1892. The observatory was then reoccupied in1932 and is currently still in operation. Since 1932 the observatory
staff have recorded continous climate records. Because of its unique location and weather the observatory is also used to conduct valuable
scientific research and engineering testing programs. The highest wind speed ever recorded on earth was taken at the observatory on April
12, 1934 (231 MPH).
The dataset available from the observatory's World Wide Web site consist of Daily and Monthly weather reports taken by the summit weather observers. The daily record begins on April 19, 1999 and continues to the present. The monthly reports begin in March 1999. Historical Mount Washington records may be obtained from the NOAA National Climatic Data
Center.
