资源简介:

Included are 5 tar files containing monthly-mean NetCDF-format gridded surface temperatures from 160 simulations of volcanic eruptions (1 file each per 4 eruption season-location combinations) and a 260-year control simulation. All simulations use version 2.2 ('high-top') of the GISS ModelE Earth system model. The eruption characteristics are revealed by each file name. For instance, looking at "005a_eq_dec.nc: -- '005' denotes that this is a 5 Tg sulfur eruption (out of 5, 10, 20, and 40 Tg cases) - 'a' denotes that this is the first ensemble member (out of 10 members: 'a'-'h') - 'eq' denotes that this is an equatorial eruption (out of equatorial and northern hemisphere at 64 degrees North / 'nh' cases) - 'dec' reveals that the eruption has a December 15 eruption date (out of December 15 and June 15 / 'jun' cases) Also included is a 260 year control (no eruptions) simulation. For each eruption case, the ten ensemble members are launched in distinct years of the control simulation. Noting that the control run's first time is January of a pre-industrial year arbitrarily named "2000", the 'ensemble-member-to-control-year' key is as follows: a=2031, b=2043, c=2055, d=2065, e=2075, f=2085, g=2099, h=2111, i=2121, j=2132. The June equatorial eruptions were simulated by Kevin DallaSanta for the study DallaSanta & Polvani, ACP 2022, while all others cases were made more recently for an upcoming study. Volcanic forcings are based on the Easy Volcanic Aerosol forcing generator (Toohey et al., GMD 2016)
