Annual datasets on the future photovoltaic power potential over East Asia from five RCMs participating in the CORDEX–East Asia Phase Ⅱ project by emission scenarios

Future changes in East Asian photovoltaic power potential (PVpot) for mean and extreme temperature conditions were estimated using five different RCMs with 25–km horizontal resolution forced by UKESM1 (UK's Earth System Model version 1) one of the CMIP6 (Coupled Model Intercomparison Project 6) GCMs (Global Climate Models), participating in the CORDEX–East Asia phase Ⅱ project. The Historical experiment, covering 36 years from 1979 to 2014, was used to evaluate the performance of the RCMs and applied as the reference dataset for future PVpot projections. Two emission scenarios, SSP1–2.6 and SSP5–8.5, were applied to estimate and compare future PVpot over East Asia under varying carbon emission levels for 2025–2099.
