COMMON FEATURES IN THE NARRATIVES OF BERUNI AND RABG'UZIY

This article examines the common features of narratives found in the works of Abu Rayhan Beruni and Rabg‘uziy, focusing on their thematic, structural, and ideological similarities. Through a comparative analysis of narratives related to the historical figure Harun al-Rashid, the study reveals how similar сюжет (plot) and motifs are represented in different literary contexts. The research highlights that both authors employ these narratives to emphasize the ruler’s generosity, justice, and humanity, as well as the intelligence and perceptiveness of subordinate characters. Furthermore, the article explores the issue of literary transmission, suggesting that such narratives may have originated from oral traditions and later entered written literature in modified forms. The concept of “poetic borrowing” or literary influence is discussed as a theoretical framework for understanding these parallels. Special attention is given to the principle of historicity and the role of real historical figures in shaping literary narratives. The findings demonstrate that comparative analysis of similar narratives contributes to a deeper understanding of the genesis, development, and socio-cultural functions of literary works in Turkic and Uzbek literary traditions.
