资源简介:
Background: The purpose of this study was to explore the feasibility of implementing strategic COVID-19 testing protocols in at-risk urban school settings to increase parents’ and staff’s sense of safety and to guide the development of effective school testing policies. The study aimed to provide data to help the district adopt a testing protocol that would allow students and staff to spend more time in school physically rather than quarantined or in virtual learning environments. Materials/Methods: The study was conducted in Miami-Dade County schools and evaluated COVID-19 testing strategies designed to reduce the standard 10-day quarantine period. Data collected from an initial study informed two specific testing protocols: an isolation room protocol for students presenting COVID-19 symptoms, and an exposure protocol for students exposed to the virus either in the classroom or outside of school. The study assessed the practicality, safety impact, and potential policy implications of these testing approaches for supporting in-person learning continuity. Outcome/Impact: The intended outcome of this study was to determine whether testing-based protocols could safely reduce quarantine duration, support earlier return to school, and enhance community confidence in school-based COVID-19 safety measures.
