An emerging picture of freezing and drought tolerance evolution in Pooideae grasses

For the transcriptome analysis, two taxa (B. distachyon and N. pulchra)were initially chosen to represent two of the 15 Pooideae tribes with the assumptionthat their occurrence in temperate regions represents the ancestral state of thesubfamily, rather than secondary transitions. E. calycina was used as an outgroup.
