Updated Checklist of the Gall Midges (Diptera: Cecidomyiidae) of Austria

This dataset, offered as an Excel spreadsheet, contains the updated national checklist of gall midges (Diptera: Cecidomyiidae) of Austria, raising the total number of recorded species to 449. This checklist updates the previous national list published nearly 20 years ago (Skuhravá & Skuhravý, 2008) by integrating 19 new records for the Austrian fauna discovered through iNaturalist platform and the GBIF database, and 33 species newly documented in the recent European and global literature about this Diptera family. New insights about synonyms were also considered and adjusted. The Excel spreadsheet includes detailed taxonomic information, host vegetation associations, short description and references for each added species.
