Spatially explicit alder seed and seedling data from Western Arctic, Inuvik Region, Northwest Territories

The purpose of this data was to determine the spatial distribution of alder seed and seedlings around alder patches at this boreal-tundra ecotone site. The primary objectives were to characterize seedling patterns and to determine whether these patterns could be explained by either topographic resource gradients or spatial patterns of seed dispersal. Seedling density and seed trap data will be compared to one another as well as to mechanistic models of seed dispersal with the eventual goal of predicting regions of future alder expansion at Trail Valley Creek.
