资源简介:
Samples from subfloor features in a Fremont pithouse excavated at site 42DC769 in
northeast Utah were examined for pollen and macrofloral remains, as well as for organic
residues using Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR). A pollen control was collected
from the modern surface. In addition, the fill from five extramural features was examined using
FTIR. This site is located in Nine Mile Canyon, known for its numerous rock art panels. Pollen
and macrofloral analyses will be used to provide subsistence information concerning plant
resources utilized by the pithouse occupants, while FTIR will address the presence of organic
residues that might represent both plants and animals.
