Microbial community composition analysis using the phylogenetic markers 16S rRNA and dsrAB in anaerobic manure digesters operated on 3 dairy farms in Vermont (USA). The purpose was to identify candidate sulfur reducing bacteria responsible for the synthesis of hydrogen sulfide in the fermentation chamber of manure digesters. Hydrogen sulfide is health hazard and a corrosive agent.
