SLHC interview of Joni McCarthy, Silver Lake, 2015

Oral history interview of Joni McCarthy, 2030 Hyperion Avenue, Silver Lake, Los Angeles, 2015 April 20, by the Silver Lake History Collective (SLHC). Joni has owned Medicus (with her husband, until his death several years ago) for 52 years. They moved to Hyperion in 1984. She became friends with some other original Silver Lake businesses like the Hub Market, the Frog Pond, Casita del Campo. There was not enough electrical power for the eventual upgraded graphic and printing material in the early 1990's. We have photos of the city upgrading Hyperion. Joni has done a lot of community jobs and was an innovator for printed materials used by Children's Hospital and other medical offices. Part of a series of oral histories "The people of Silver Lake".
