A dataset of 80 SNP sequences for 1173 Abies alba Mill. trees from 43 populations in the Pyrenees

Silver fir (Abies alba Mill.) is a shade tolerant European conifer, distributed across temperate mountain areas (e.g. in France: Pyrenees, Massif Central, Alps, Jura, Vosges, Montagne de l'Aigle), at moderate elevations between 300 and 1800 meters above sea level. Here, we present a dataset of 80 SNPs from 43 populations located mostly on the Spanish side of the Pyrenees. Some of these SNPs failed to amplify or were found to be monomorphic in some individuals and populations. In total, 65 were used for genotyping 1173 individuals and carry out a population genetic study coupled with paleopollen data historical analysis to understand the colonization dynamics of the species during the late Pleistocene and early Holocene across the Pyrenees.
