Culture-dependent and culture-independent characterization of the olive xylem microbiota

Our research was designed to address the gap in the knowledge on olive sap microbiome thorough the characterization of the bacterial taxa that shape the xylem sap microbial communities using culture-dependent and culture-independent approaches, and to determine to which extent the culture isolation media, the olive genotype and type of plant extract used to isolate the xylem sap bacterial microbiome have an effect on the characterization of its composition, diversity and structure.
