Determinants of Work Intensity In Different Service Sectors

Employees from the service sector are particularly affected by high work intensity, which can be a health risk. While the consequences of work intensity have been studied extensively, its determinants have received less attention. The aim of the current study is to investigate various possible determinants and different facets of work intensity considering diverse service sectors. Moreover, we will examine whether the determinants are differently related to various facets of work intensity in these service sectors. We will analyse data from two waves of the cross-sectional nationally representative German BIBB/BAuA Employment Survey (2012, 2018) including dependent employees working in the service sector without leadership responsibility.
