Comprehensive production environmental regulations and enterprise pollution and carbon reduction

Environmental pollution and climate change constitute major challenges confronting human society on the path toward sustainable development. How to achieve synergistic effects between pollution and carbon reduction through environmental regulation has become a key issue. Industrial enterprises serve as important responsible entities for promoting synergistic efficiency in pollution and carbon reduction. This study adopts the perspective of comprehensive production processes, takes the implementation of CleanerProduction Standards (CPS) as a quasi-natural experiment, uses the difference-in-differences (DID) method and China's industrial enterprise database to study the synergistic effects and potential mechanisms of environmental regulation on enterprise pollution and carbon reduction.
