资源简介:

This study explores the interplay of socioeconomic, technological, and environmental factors influencing the adoption of mechanized agricultural practices in Borongan City, Eastern Samar. By examining these variables, the research aims to provide actionable insights to enhance mechanization strategies, guide policymakers and stakeholders, and optimize agricultural productivity within the community. Agriculture, a cornerstone of human civilization for over 10,000 years, remains vital for economic sustainability, providing raw materials, income, and trade opportunities. Despite its critical role, the agricultural sector in the Philippines, including rice farming, faces challenges in leveraging mechanization to boost productivity. Borongan City, the capital of Eastern Samar, allocates approximately 37.88% of its land for agricultural purposes, with rice as a major crop. However, the city's palay production (5,325 metric tons in 2023) indicates significant room for growth compared to neighboring provinces. The city's Dukwag Agrikultura Program prioritizes food sufficiency and resilience for farmers, yet the adoption of mechanized farming remains inconsistent. This study investigates factors such as economic viability, social dynamics, and technological accessibility that influence the decision-making process regarding farm machinery use. The findings aim to inform policies and practices that address barriers to mechanization, sustainable agricultural development, enhancing productivity, and improving the livelihoods of Borongan's rice farmers.
