This observational study utilizes an innovative deep learning framework to map river obstructions on a global scale, overcoming the constraints of conventional detection methods by accurately identifying multiple categories of obstructions—including dams, low-head dams, locks, and partial dams. The resulting dataset, named DL-GROD (Deep Learning–Global River Obstructions Database), comprises 50,061 records of artificial river obstructions, each meticulously validated through visual inspection via Google Maps.
