Review: Monitoring fishing activities using machine learning techniques based on AIS data

Review of monitoring fishing activities using machine learning techniques based on AIS data. The aim of these researches is to analyze the dynamics of fishing fleet movements in order to better understand the situation regarding legal/illegal fishing, and to investigate the areas where fishing fleets sail the most. In this way, the authors wish to contribute and support fisheries management and conservation efforts, i.e. improving the accuracy and resolution of fishing effort data, including data on the social and economic aspects of fishing activity, and expanding their access to other types of vessel monitoring data.
