GEDI footprints over Paphos forest, Cyprus from 2019-04-18 to 2020-12-31

Description This dataset contains NASA Global Ecosystem Dynamics Investigation (GEDI) Version 2 footprints covering Paphos Forest, Cyprus, from 18 April 2019 to 31 December 2020. It includes data from the GEDI L2A, L2B and L4A products, downloaded from NASA LP DAAC and ORNL DAAC. The footprints were filtered using the official quality information. Only observations with a valid quality flag, a degrade_flag of 0 and beam sensitivity greater than 0.95 were retained. For the main analysis, footprints were also required to have at least 80% spatial overlap with mapped Pinus brutia forest. The final study dataset contains 11,065 quality-filtered footprints. The dataset includes footprint locations, acquisition and beam information, relative-height metrics such as RH98, quality and sensitivity information, canopy-cover variables from L2B and aboveground biomass density from L4A where available. GEDI footprints have a nominal diameter of approximately 25 m. These data were prepared for the validation of GEDI canopy-height and biomass estimates in steep, open Mediterranean pine forest and for examining the effect of terrain on GEDI measurements.
