The cardiac fibroblasts were isolated from heart of neonatal C57 mice. Cells at passages 2 to 3 were used to further experiments. Cells were incubated for 4-6 hours with serum-free DMEM and then treated with TGF-beta-1 (10 ng/ml, Sino biological Inc.) for 24 hours to induce fibroblasts activation.
