资源简介:
What are the data? The dataset consists of educational materials on breastfeeding (lactancia materna), including brochures, slides, and structured activity guides. These documents cover the concept, importance, types, composition, benefits, techniques, myths and realities, legal frameworks, and support groups related to breastfeeding. They were designed as part of medical student projects to promote maternal and child health in community and academic settings. How were the data collected? The data were compiled through a review of scientific and institutional sources, including recommendations from the World Health Organization (WHO), the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), and Dominican legislation related to maternity and breastfeeding. Based on this evidence, medical students adapted the information into accessible formats such as brochures and activity schemes. The collection process emphasized participatory methodologies, incorporating interactive activities, visual aids, and community testimonies to ensure clarity and cultural relevance. How to interpret the data? The dataset should be interpreted as a didactic and preventive health resource rather than as statistical data. Each document is structured to provide scientifically validated information, clarify common misconceptions, and offer practical guidance on breastfeeding techniques and maternal self-care. The materials also highlight the importance of family and community support, while contextualizing breastfeeding within the Dominican legal framework. In this way, the dataset reflects both medical knowledge and social realities. How to use the data? The dataset can be used in academic settings as teaching material for medical and health sciences students, and in community contexts as tools for workshops, support groups, and awareness campaigns. It is also valuable for public health professionals and policymakers seeking to promote breastfeeding as a national priority. Importantly, the project aims to reach younger audiences who may not easily connect with traditional elder-to-younger transmission of knowledge, offering innovative approaches that combine scientific rigor with accessible communication.
