VPRS 10889 1. Pay Book - Beechworth Gaol 2. Chief Warder's Journal - Pentridge Prison

This book has been used for two quite different functions. The book was used at Beechworth Prison as a Pay Book. It recorded payments and deductions for officers for the period beginning in June 1912 until April 1918. The book was later used as a Chief Warder's Journal at Pentridge Prison. It was used for that purpose during the period November 1942 until March 1945. Information recorded included the numbers imprisoned on the night in a particular Division, including the numbers received and discharged. It provides also the Senior Warder's account of activities during the night.
