Anonymized Social Credit System and Citation 2012 - 2019

To construct our sample set, we primarily source data from the China Stock Market & Accounting Research (CSMAR) database for citation numbers, patent numbers, and other firm-level or province-level variables. Using a comprehensive sample of 23,469 observations with 3,705 Chinese public firms from 2012 to 2019, we conduct empirical tests and find that the launch of a Big-data-based public policy significantly increases the number of patent citations.
