MusicSphere: Room and Organ Acoustic Measurements of Sint-Martinus Church Heers

This is a dataset of organ recordings and room acoustic measurements of Sint-Martinus Church, Heers, Flanders, Belgium (N 50.75547708208223, E 5.301852630724148). For ease of reference and use, the dataset has been divided into multiple parts: ROAM-MHE Part 1: Spatial Room Impulse Responses ROAM-MHE Part 2: Recording of Individual Pipe Tones ROAM-MHE Part 3: 360° Images Overview Measurements of Sint-Martinus Church Heers.pdf provides an initial overview of the data collected, which is presented here. Part 1 of the dataset consists of Spatial Room Impulse Responses (SRIRs) recorded using a spherical 7-channel microphone array, with a central omnidirectional capsule from a Earthworks M30. The array was mounted on a robotic platform and positioned at 152 locations across the nave, including between pews, under the organ, in the entrance, and behind columns, enabling high-fidelity binaural rendering via the Spatial Decomposition Method. Five loudspeakers - four Genelec 8341A and one omnidirectional source - were used for excitation, driven by exponential sine sweeps. The loudspeaker positions are listed in the table “Overview Loudspeakers for the SRIR measurements”. Part 2 of the dataset consists of recordings of the notes C and F♯, played using an Orgamat. For both C and F♯, all keys across the manual were recorded individually and in all possible simultaneous key combinations. The two pitches were recorded in separate measurement sets and were not played simultaneously. In total, recordings were obtained using nine individual stops, two stop combinations, and one configuration without any stops engaged, containing only the key-action noise of the Orgamat. The microphone positions are listed in the table “Overview of Microphones for Organ Recordings”. Part 3 of the dataset consists of 360° panoramic images captured using an Insta360 Pro 2 camera. A total of 18 measurement positions from the SRIR dataset were documented. For each position, both the unprocessed raw data and a stitched panoramic image are provided.
