Scanning ultrasound-mediated improvements in APP23 mice

This project applied the active place avoidance (APA) test of spatial memory to APP23 mice, a mouse model of AD. A variety of measures were obtained from this test including number of shocks, and time to first entry. APP23 mice were treated with scanning ultrasound at 1 MHz center frequency (HighF), 286 kHz center frequency (LowF) or sham treatment where the ultrasound device was not turned on (Sham). Mice were tested (Test) on the APA and assigned to groups based on matching performance on day 5. Mice were retested (Retest) on a rotating arena for 5 days 10 minutes per day after the final (8th) HighF, LowF or sham treatment to obtain a read out of memory improvement.
