Study of the bacteria associated with fireflies from the Northeastern United States

Bacterial community characterization of fireflies (Coleoptera: Lampyridae) across 12 species and species complex of fireflies and related beetles from the Northeastern US. This project investigates the changes in composition and diversity throughout the bacterial communities of firefly species across life stages, regions, seasons, and habitats. We utilized bacterial 16S ribosomal RNA gene amplicon sequencing to profile the bacterial communities.
