Replication Data for: Racial health disparities in the United States

Contains replication materials for Figures 1 and 2 in Alsan, Ianni, and Peterson (2024) "Racial health disparities in the United States." Oxford Review of Economic Policy, 40(3): 498-517. Figure 1 shows the share of individuals 16 or older with employer-sponsored health insurance from 1987-2017 by race. Figure 2 shows shows age-adjusted drug overdose death rates by race from 1999-2020. There are three files. The README file contains details on the underlying datasets and code. The Excel file titled "ESI_1987_2017.xlsx" contains the data underlying Figure 1. The data underlying Figure 2 are publicly available from the CDC, but users wishing to access those data must agree to terms and conditions. Please see the README file for details. The do-file titled "aip_figure_replication.do" contains the code for reproducing the figures.
