Limonene, a monocyclic monoterpene, is present in human environments, in food, and as a citrus scent in cosmetics and cleaning products. It enters wastewater and is anoxically transformed and degraded in methanogenic digester towers. In this study, the PacBio metagenome of a stable limonene-degrading methanogenic enrichment culture was used to characterize the microbial community and identify the degradation pathway of limonene.
