A Commentary (ممزوج) on the فصوص الحكم , by ‘Abd al-raḥmân b. Aḥmad JÂMÎ (d. A.H. 898), the renowned poet, who completed it, according to the epilogue, A.H. 896. Cf. Ḥ. Kh. iv. 426.

Well written, the beginning in a different hand from the rest. Marginal notes. The colophon runs as follows:

وقد تشرّف باتمام كتابة هذا الشرح الشريف العبد الفقير الحقير عبدالصمد ابن نياز محمد ثمرقندى (!) ثبته الله تعالى على منهج الصدق و السداد فى العمل و القول و الاعتقاد و نقله من نسخة المغفورى المرحومى اعنى مولانا محمد شريف الحسينى و نقل كاتب هذه النسخة من الكتاب الذى كان بخط المصنف قدس الله سره و افاض علينا بره فى اول شهر ذى الحجة

دستم بزیر خاک چو خواهد شدن تباه

باری بیادکار بماند خطی سیاه

There precedes (foll. 1-3r.) the concluding portion of a mystic treatise by IBN ‘ARABÎ. It contains a table, which is much like that described in Flügel, Hdss. Wien, iii. 357 sq. The author says in conclusion:

فهذا اصل نشئ العالم و سببه الخ

Written in the first hand. Ends: [with name of scribe and the date 1109 = 1697-98 CE]

تم فى اواخر جميد الآخر لسنة ست عشر و تسعمائة كتبه الفقير حقير المذنب سعد الله ابن ملا محمد قلى البخارى سنة ١١٥٩

Fol. 3v. gives, as derived from JÂMÎ’S autograph, the quatrain (رباعى) which he made on the birth of his second son, Ṣafî al-dîn Muḥammad, A.H. 880:

فرزند صفى دين محمد كه جهان

شد زنده باوچنانک تن زنده بجان

چون شد بوجود او جهان فخر کنان

شد سال ولادت وی از فخر عیان

-the numerical value of the word فخر being 880.

Then follows the chronogram, referring to the subsequent death of the boy, A.H. 881:بقاى حيات شما بادا
