The circumgalactic medium (CGM) plays an instrumental role in galaxy evolution.From shallow archival data of Suzaku and XMM we have detected the extended(virgul150 kpc) and massive hot CGM of NGC 3221 an L* star-forming galaxy. There issuggestive evidence of cavities along the minor axis and super-virialtemperature within 100 kpc an indirect imprint of galactic outflow on the hotCGM. We would like to confirm our tentative yet exciting findings with deepdata. We ask for 430 ks XMM-Newton/EPIC time to precisely characterize theradial and angular profiles of surface brightness density temperaturepressure and entropy of the hot CGM of NGC 3221 through imaging spectroscopyand modeling.
