A cohort of 33 obese patients scheduled for bariatric surgery were recruited and samples were collected for microbiota profiling at time of operation and 6 months following BS incl. stool and oral samples at both timepoints, and fat biopsies and serum samples at time of BS. All samples were subjected to 16S rRNA gene sequencing.
