资源简介:
Chronic granulomatous disorder (CGD) is a primary immunodeficiency characterised by failure of phagocyte oxidative burst. In addition to life-threatening infection, affected patients frequently suffer inflammatory colitis. It is known that the microbiome is altered in other inflammatory bowel diseases and that this may have a causative role in the pathogenesis. We hypothesised that the mucosa-associated microbiome would differ between patients with and without colitis, and that the stool microbiome would change in response to treatment administered to treat colitis. Ten participants in this study underwent colonoscopy with biopsies taken from each segment of the large bowel. We have here investigated the microbiota in each of these bowel segments. Two patients also provided stool samples during colitis treatment.
