Sequencing_of_a_novel_set_of_Klebsiella_pneumoniae_bacteriophage

A strain of Klebsiella pneumoniae, B5055, produces a highly mucoid capsule compared to many other isolates we have in our collection. We set out to identify bacteriophages that could overcome this obstacle. After testing possible sources for phage that may infect it, we found three distinct phage from a outflow from a Sewage works that has conection to Addenbrookes Hospital. These phage are now being characterised to understand there diffences more fully. Sequencing of this novel set of Klebsiella pneumoniae will go togther with further studies using RNAseq and mixed infection tests aginst Klebsiella pneumoniae strains as well as to identify what we believe are two potential tail fibres tagetting both the Capsule and the LPS underneath or possibly a further bacterial cell appendage.
