This particular dataset has been partitioned off from the larger study for use by K-12 teachers as a classroom and curriculum aid. The larger, complete dataset is in a different file. The larger dataset is a study conducted to better understand the role that submerged aquatic macrophytes (SAMs) have in the function of the East Fork Jemez River (EFJR). SAMs are well known to act as natural filters, improving downstream water quality while providing other ecosystem services. Understanding the baseline function will help us understand what effects climate change may have on this important water source as the EFJR feeds into the Rio Grande, the 'new' source of drinking water for multiple large municipalities downstream.
