Coal Degrading Microbial Consortium. Coalseam consortium metagenome

A coal degrading microbial consortium inoculated from formation water associated with a methane producing coal seam is being studied using metagenomic experiments. The aim of this project is to investigate the taxonomic identities and abundances of the individual members of the consortium community and to provide functional gene annotation for the various members. This will help us to understand the syntrophic interactions underpinning the degradation of coal to methane by this microbial consortium.
