Weekly municipal dengue case counts, climate exposure, and marginalization index, Mexico, 2021–2025

Weekly, municipality-level dataset combining confirmed and clinically suspected dengue case counts, short-term climate exposure variables, a socioeconomic marginalization index, and population denominators for all 2,471 municipalities in Mexico, covering epidemiological weeks from 2021 to 2025. Case counts are derived from the open-data repository of historical vector-borne disease records maintained by Mexico's General Directorate of Epidemiology (DGE), Secretaría de Salud. Climate variables (2-metre dewpoint temperature, 2-metre air temperature, total precipitation) are derived from ERA5-Land, distributed via the Copernicus Climate Data Store, aggregated to the municipal level. The marginalization index and population estimates are from the Consejo Nacional de Población (CONAPO). This dataset is the analysis-ready input for the Bayesian hierarchical spatiotemporal model (INLA) described in the accompanying code repository [enlaza aquí tu GitHub], used to study the association between climate exposure, socioeconomic marginalization, and dengue incidence. Climate covariates are provided unlagged; the 4-week lag applied in the primary analysis (and the 1–10-week sensitivity range tested) is implemented in the accompanying analysis code, not in this dataset, so that the raw weekly series remains reusable under alternative lag specifications.
