资源简介:
<p>Phase Transforming Cellular Materials (PXCMs) are a suitable alternative to traditional materials because they can 1) exhibit non-linear behavior and hence limit forces in buildings, and 2) deform without permanent deformations. Dynamic tests of a SDOF PXCM system were conducted. A total of 26 runs with three different ground motion records and four different masses were conducted. It was observed that the SDOF PXCM system exhibited non-linear behavior when subjected to displacement demands exceeding approximately 0.4 inches. No residual displacements were observed after runs where the system exhibited non-linear response.</p> <p>The maximum displacement response of the PXCM system was estimated using two methods: 1) the Velocity of Displacement, and 2) non-linear time history analysis. Displacements estimated using VOD showed better correlation with measured displacements. Forces estimated using non-linear time history analyses were consistently lower in comparison to measured forces in the PXCM springs, especially for runs where the PXCM springs exhibited non-linear response. The initial period of the PXCM spring was also estimated assuming that it behaved as a linear elastic SDOF system. These estimates of periods correlated well with measured periods.</p> <nb:citations></nb:citations>
